THE BEST. Audubon Zoo was the best zoo in the universe before Katrina. Today, it has recovered nicely, though not like it was. Unfortunately, it was VERY hot during visit, and most animals were hiding in the AC or mud, or caves.....The highlight was seeing the Lions up close. There are 7 of them, one daddy, two cubs and the rest females. Incredible experience with them.Aquarium was hit very very hard during Katrina, and most species died. They have recovered well, and have a lovely facility that I hope expands in the future. Lots of highlights here - Jellyfish exhibits, penguins, huge glass aquarium filled with lots of different fish + Rays .Insectarium is always fascinating. Some exhibits are not for the faint of heart, but interesting, nonetheless.The not to be missed BEST exhibit is the Butterfly free-for-all Garden. What a blast, tons of butterflies flying around, and the nice man at the exhibit knows his stuff! Very educational & beautiful.

It was honestly a pretty big zoo, and they had lots of animals to show off! I did the bundle ticket that included the aquarium and the insectarium as well, however I am not from NOLA, so be aware that the zoo is in a different part of town, but the other two are in the same building. Make sure to make time for that since both places close at 5! You can definitely take your time, and even as a solo traveler I had a lot of fun reading and looking at the exhibits. It was definitely worth bundling them all together to save money. Staff were friendly and helpful with directions, and the gift shops were cute too! Make sure to bring a fan if it is hot though.

Was a lot of animals and worth the money a bit pricey but worth it. It’s good as a family or solo or a couple. It is veryhot during the summer so bring plenty of water and maybe a fan definitely bring or rent a stroller or wagon for younger kids it’s a lot of walking. only downside is most of the animals aren’t always there.

This is a fantastic zoo and aquarium! It is very shaded which helps with the heat. My kids are teens but this would have been a perfect activity for younger kids. Lots of water features and play areas.

All 3 places were awesome! As a teacher I would highly recommend taking kids to them. It had hands-on activities as well as expert chats with the folks that take care of the animals.

It is so well organized, clean and employees are smiling all the time, the animals are so beautiful… definetetly a place to come back. I almost forgot to mention… Butterfly garden is spectacular!! Great job!!!

Be aware that the zoo is in a different area of the city (about 5 miles away). All three can be seen in 1 day but it is much easier to break it up into 2 days. They are all somewhat small exhibits but still interesting. I personally found the Insectarium to be the best. There are also hands on exhibits for kids there. I would allow about 2-2.5 hours per section at an easy pace.

The Audubon Zoo is well worth a visit, and the entrance fee is quite reasonable. There should be a paper map to follow through the Zoo as it is quite large. You can download the app on your phone and follow which way to traverse to see different species of animals. The app is just one more to add to your phone and could easily be compared with texting while driving. Prices of food and drink (which hydration is definitely to be considered a requirement) are far too high as are the souvenirs. Pack alot of water, because you WILL need it, along with snacks. You will not be disappointed at the various animals you will see, but be aware of the high prices for anything within the zoo.

Caught the bus to Audubon zoo. There was a lack of path to get from the bus to the zoo entrance, but followed some staff across the grass and walked up the road. Buying tickets at the gate was a positive experience. We bought the combined ticket with the aquarium and insectarium which is very good value. It was a very hot day and was told that some animals may not be visible as they were keeping cool in their indoor enclosures. However we felt we saw most animals and some of those that we didn’t see first time, we managed to see when circling back round. There were many Zoo run summer camp groups, some better managed than others, but good to see some getting the kids to be considerate of other visitors. Had lunch at the cafe at the far end of the park and it was good quality and value. The park was clean and tidy, the animals seemed to be well looked after and they had good sized enclosures. There is a lot of empty space in the zoo with nothing to see, and less animals than other zoo’s that we have visited recently, but we had a good time looking at what they do have. The highlights were the nocturnal house watching the sloth and cooling down before heading back out into the heat, and the Louisiana swamp area with some more local animals.

Not very many animals to see. Due to temperature, too hot for the animals. Easy to get in the zoo, once you know the correct process. Aquarium was disappointing. Expected more

My visit to the zoo was very enjoyable. It is small but packed with animals. Most of my favirites were there. The park itself is absolutely beautiful. The landscaping is gorgeous and the park was clean. I would definitely recommend.

I have visited many zoos this ranks in my top 5. Its a medium sized zoo. Water extremely over priced. Enjoyed seeing the animals. Was not aware of the water attraction based on website. 3 hours was plenty. Lots of shade to help combat the heat.

Humid, but fun. The ride was cool and the bus was clean. I enjoyed the gorillas and the water fountain

The zoo is beautiful, the setting of each section is spectacular, and the animals are very varied. Unfortunately, in the Asia section, practically all the animals were kept away, and we could not see them (tiger, bear, elephant, etc.)
